Why isn't my sound on my iPhone working?

This has been happening for a couple of weeks, my sound works then stops? Even when the switch on the side is up(not on vinrate) it still dosent work. So when I want to watch videos or music it doesn't work? I've tried rebooting It and it still isn't working! Someone help its annoying me! X

I Had this problem and I called the apple support line however have you tryed theese:
Reboot the device?
Restore the IOS Using itunes.
If these don't work you might of nudged the sound chip in the device when you have dropped it however when this happened to me it turned out my phone was water damaged

My sounds not working either I've tried everything it keeps going off and on without me controlling it

The same exact thing is happening with my phone. Seems like it's a common problem that maybe Apple should take care of!

Hey guys just wanted to tell you that maybe there's water jammed In there so get a bag put rice in the bag leave it in there for a week or less and it will work! My phone had the same problem but the sound and screen works ok but not the Wi-Fi yet… But try it!

My sound doesn't work while my phone is charging and I tried rebooting and cleaning the USB and new chargers and it still doesn't work

Siri works and sonetimes my keyboard works but my music and my apps are not working! Its really annoyingg!

This is so annoying I can't watch or hear anything that involves sound I've tryed everything apple needs to fix it or they will go out of business

I have ha this same problem for months! I have tried turnin it off and then turning it back on but that didn't help. I have found that if you leave t alone for awhile, the sound will come back on its own. So just go do something for awhile and it will come back on. If it doesn't, then you need to go get it checked out.

The sound to my apps aren't working, I can't watch anything that has to do with sounds, my keyboard doesn't make any sound, my phone only vibrates and I've tried everything I need help!

If you have an iPhone 5s the little switch on the side that's on top of the volume buttons just flip it and the sounds will come back on that's how I fixed my sound

When I went swimming I brought my iPhone 4 in a ziplock bag and didn't get wet so when I went home my phone wouldn't turn on! I thought it was broken so I charged it. It wasn't broken I used it and I noticed that the sound wasn't working! THIS IS Really ANNOYING!

Same. IPhone 5s. One month old. YouTube plays sound in safari, Siri works, insta videos, ringtones when I'm choosing them in the menu all work fine. BUT when I get a call or text NOTHING just vibrate even when the sound is on. Vine is also afflicted and I've deleted and reinstalled the app several times. Had a stress dream about my phone being broken last night. F THIS

Ok. I did drop my phone in water I admit… But sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't… I always listen to music it doesn't even show up on the bottom tag!

Yeah it's weird my sound doesn't work either… But Siri talks just fine which confuses me?! How can my music/ videos/ and all other apps not work but Siri can? WTF!

Guys same with me I went swimming and I had my phone over the water and I tiny tiny bite of water hit my speaker and than my mom called and I could hear her just put the phone in a bag of rice for a day or too that's it

My mom called I couldn't hear her I got a tiny tiny tiny bit of water in my speakers just leave your phone in a bag of rice for 2 days than it will work

Okay guys chill out. Some Iphone charger don't allow your phone to play music while it is charging. Part of the charger to make sure it charges faster. Another thing if you drop your phone in water/ get it wet put it in rice for 48hr(2 days)! The volume will work again however it won't be as loud. Another problem with sound could be the little tab you pull up it can say head phones air play. If your sounds not working mess around with that. I hope you found a solution right for you. Know why it is not working it in head phone mod some kind of way because I put head phones in my phone then I could here every thing it's stuck like that some kinda way that sucks

My iPad is not playing any sound all it does is go to Siri that's all I can hear I can't hear music nor apps

Just upgraded to 8.4 two wks ago and with in first week SOUND was terrible! Sometimes ok; more times can't even hear caller. THIS IS WHAT WE GET WITH UPGRADE?! Yes I've rebooted and shut off for several hours but still no help.

Thanks Apple daughter! The sound was not playing in my apps and I've had this problem on and off. You made me realize, it happens after I've used Airplay. Once I switched it out of AirPlay back to iPad my sound was back. Duh!

WHY ISN'T IT WORKING

My iphone4 was not working for DAYS and MONTHS and what I did was I used an edge of a paper and took of the dirt from the charger cable and there was so much dust. It started to work after I turnt it on

This is annoying! NOTHING WORKS! I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR NEARLY MY WHOLE LIFE!

If I don't work turn on the "don't disturb button" OR you could use the edge of paper and take the dirt away OR leave it for some days OR restore it on iTunes OR whilst your phone is still on, take of the 2 pins and it will work BUT if none of these work it could be water damage and you should leave it for a bit or take it to the shop.

Volume on full blast yet when people call or I text there's no ringer or sound!

On the side of your IPhone above the two volume buttons is a switch that can be moved horizontally. If it's showing a red mark your ringer is turned off. Slide it over and your sound will come back.

I have had the same problem, the Siri is working and but the notification sound, alarms, calls, keypad, music and videos gi without sound. Neither is my phone water damaged nor did it fall. What is the probable cause and how can this be fixed. Is it because of the latest update I made. Apple needs to fix this as soon as possible.

My iPhone won't work and it says it's connected to headphones but there are none nearbye help me!
