Why won't my iPhone sound work?

I have only just purchased my new iPhone 4. I went to the beach today with it, however, I kept it in my pocket and then put it in a bag. The bag had a little sand in it and a little got in my Now there's no sounds coming out of my phone and whenever I turn the volume up it says 'headphones' when there isn't headphones or anything in that I have tried using the vacuum cleaner on it to get out any sand in it, but it hasn't changed anything. I'm so annoyed and so is my mum and she's really angry at me. Please can someone help me

Try restarting it or maybe actually put headphones in and take them out. Is it on mute?

I have an iphone 4s which is fully up to date, all of my sound is fine when my earphones are plugged in however when i have no earphones in i can't play music or hear any sound when on apps and games etc, but my sound works for facetime and when i'm on the phone to someone even on loudspeaker, it sometimes goes quiet though, i have tried everything i can think of to fix it and nothing will work, please help
  • Why won't my iPhone earbuds work on my iPhone but work fine on a computer? So I have the worst luck with earbuds and it happens to be reoccurring. I have a normal iPhone 5 and I enjoy music but when I listen to my songs only one earbud will work while the other one is dead. I can go on my computer and they will both work so I was wondering why they both won't work on my phone?
  • Why won't the sound on my iPhone 4S work? I have had my iPhone for 3 months and it has been working fine. I used to share an iTunes account with my sister, and the sound would work on anything on my phone. Now, I made my own iTunes account and the sound for YouTube and iTunes will not work. The volume switch on the side is not set to orange. Any answers would be appreciated!
  • Why won't the sound on my iphone 4 work? When i manually use the buttons to turn it up is says ringer like always but the sound part doesn't show up? And on my ipod the place to turn it up is just black.why? And how do i fix it?
