Wi-fi on laptop causing high ping?
When the wi-fi is connected on the laptop and i'm watching videos it causes the broadband wired connection on the computer to freeze and shoot the ping to 200+. I have tested other wi-fi devices such as iphone and tablet and it has no impact on the connection, stays at 35-40 ping, it is only when the laptop is connected and watching videos it causes the problem.
Any Ideas?
Are you sharing the wired internet through the desktop's wireless card? Consider getting a wireless router to handle all that to reduce the host computer's workload.
Even if it's the same video, the laptop may be asking the source for a larger version of the video stream than the phones and tables. More pixels means more data and more network packets per second, and that can chew up a higher percentage of your internet capacity.
Try telling the video player software to use "480p" or less, see if that improves the performance (at the expense of detail).
- What could be causing my iPhone to not be holding a charge? It's an iPhone 4, and I've had it a few months short of two years. I've taken good care of it, it's got plenty of memory, updated software, I'm not running many apps (I double click the home button to close them often), but my phone's battery won't last at all lately even when I don't use it very often.
- Reducing ping or lag when I use my internet? When I play computer games such as league of legends, my ping shoots up to about 400ms. I believe it to be caused by the Xbox and wii in my household streaming Netflix movies and usage of Wi-Fi on an iPod and iPhone. Is this problem caused by my modem, router, Internet speed, or ISP. Or do I simply just take turns where only one person can use Netflix at a time etc.
- IPhone sync issues causing frustration? My iPhone won't sync with my PC itunes and does without any problem with Mac which is not mine. Its a 4s I just bought and all the other iPhones do sync without any problem. No matter I select to sync contact with google contacts, outlook contacts are synced. It's also happening on PC.
