Will iphone 3gs become obsolete?
Hi i'm currently using blackberry torch but was thinkin of changin to an iphone for goin away travellin.main reason is for easy uploadin of pic and videos to facebook via the phone, txtin and makin calls. Not too interested in apps etc
so my question is if a buy an iphone 3gs will it become obsolete within next few yrs? And if i buy a jailbroken one which means i can't update-would this stop the phone from workin also?
saving to go away so would prefer not to spend on the newer versions.

Everything eventually becomes obsolete in one way or the other. As far as the iPhone 3GS most likely it will stop being made this year when the new iPhone is announced and the iPhone 4 takes its place as the cheapest model available. Doesn't make it obsolete though as iOS 6 will be available for it when that comes out later this year as well.
Jailbroken iPhones can be updated for the record, just takes a while longer since the jailbreak tools as well need to be updated to work with them.
Personally I'd wait until the new iPhone announcement & get the iPhone 4 when its price is lowered.
- Will the iPhone 4S become slow like the iPod touch fourth gen? My iPod touch 4th gen was super fast now slow like all the other iPods. Will the iPhone 4S become slow because of the use? Is it the ram that makes the iPhone slow?
- Will iOS5 become obsolete soon? So I'm planning to buy a second hand iPhone 3Gs and I'll probably have it on iOS6 already. But I want to know how long apple will keep supporting iOS5/6 so that this phone doesn't go useless.
- Why is my iPhone 3g obsolete? I have had this phone for quite some time, and I understand they want you to get the iphone 4 or 5 but I don't really have the money or want to spend it on a new one when my old one works as far as calls and texting etc… But no apps work, one by one they are starting to fail, won't load, etc. I had instagram since I got my phone and it stopped working and I'm very annoyed with Apple!
- When will the iphone 5 become free with a 2-year contract? I realize the iphone 5 is new and costs about $200 with a 2-year contract. I'm wondering how long it will take to get one for free with a 2-year contract or the price at least go down?
