2012 honda civic - usb error? - 2
I've had my civic since november 2011.up until today, the usb cable was working fine and played my ipod no problem. I plugged it into my friend's iphone, it played for a bit, then said "usb error". I tried playing my ipod again and it kept saying the same thing. I tried unplugging and replugging in everything and it's still saying that. How can i fix this? I drive about 75 miles a day and can't imagine not having my music to drive with.
My mom has that same car just got it about 3 months ago.
Well what I suggest is to go to the dealer you bought it from and let them know cause the car aint that old and the USB should still be working.
Abother solution would be to get a cable and plug your iPod into the aux outlet.
Believe it or not, Honda will not support this issue. This USB port was designed for detachable media and not specifically for IPODs or phones. Honda states that with the 9th gen civic they are trying to deter distractions which include operating external USB devices while driving. Try using a USB thumb drive with a few MP3's and see if it works.
Additionally, the filesystem will need to be NTFS so ensure that it is formatted as so. The civic will not read FAT16/FAT32 filesystems.
If no devices work, take the car to the dealer. You may need to replace the stereo deck.
This is just one of the many reasons I will never suggest the 2012 civic. The 2011 was the last good civic to come off the assembly line.
