Are Apple ID password change requests traceable by IP?
So our iPad was stolen from our unlocked car about a week ago (we contacted the local cops and all that) in Indiana. We thought all hope was lost.
But maybe not anymore.
Currently, I'm receiving a few emails from Apple about resetting my Apple ID password. I never sent these requests, and I know I'm signed in on that iPad. They're trying to reset my iPad. Is there a way to ask Apple to pinpoint the IP these requests are coming from? If it is possible, we could find their IP, I could pinpoint it, and we could send the cops on their sorry asses.
QUICK NOTES:
-We had set up Find My iPhone on the iPad, but the thief or thieves had turned it off after stealing it.
-We contacted Apple, and we have the serial number for the iPad. There's also a return address sticker on the back, so it is not just lost.
-We know it was stolen because our entire car was ransacked. Money stolen, glasses stolen, glovebox open, wallets scoured, etc.
If anyone has any helpful information regarding contacting Apple and asking them to trace the IP these requests are coming from, it would be greatly appreciated.
You would probably need a court order. Thats not information they would just hand out
- Will Apple automatically sign you out if you change your Apple password? My sister has my mums old iPhone which has my stuff logged in and she told me she could see my messages and I got a little freaked out and I wanna know if Apple logs you out automatically if you change your password ;-; (The phone is supposed to be mine soon.)
- What will happen if i change my ex-gf apple ID password? Found out girlfriend is cheating on me (long distance relationship) I bought her an iPhone5 and set it up so I just changed the apple ID password. What will happen to her phone then? Will she not be able to instal apps etc? [I know i can wipe it, but leaving that as last resort]
- Stolen iPhone still traceable? I'm buying a second hand iPhone. It has been disabled, but he says that it was because someone changed his passcode and forgot what it was. What I want to know is; if it is stolen can I get in trouble for having it? I would be doing a full restore and all that, but even with everything completely wiped and a new sim, is it traceable?
- Is my iPhone still traceable? I disabled everything including GPS, WI-FI, Roaming and cellular usage. Also, there's No SIM card in the phone! But I still have little service bars in the top right hand corner of my screen, and can call out to Verizon on it, does this mean I'm still traceable? I don't know how I can make this call because everything is disabled.
