Are iPhones really that fragile, or are people just careless?

I've never had an iPhone before and have been thinking about getting one in the coming months. I wanted to get some opinions from you regular iPhone users about their durability, because it seems to me like people are always breaking the screens on them with so much as one drop. Now, I'm not the type of person who is always dropping their phone, and never in the history of me owning phones have I ever broken or cracked a screen or anything like that. And I always keep my phone in some type of case for extra protection.

Both.

Phones are fragile AND people are careless.

I have an iPod and I smash it when I get mad and it doesn't have a scratch on it

It's really a matter of luck. I have an iPhone 7 that's two years old without any scratches or cracks or anything. My husband bought a Samsung Galaxy S9 and cracked the screen 72 hours after buying it. He happened to sit down on a log (we were geocaching) at exactly the wrong angle. If he'd sat in a different place it would have been fine.

You can take care of it and odds are it will be fine. But sh*t happens sometimes.

I have owned iPhone since they came on the market. I drop my phone frequently and it has ALWAYS been in some kind of protective case such as an Otter Box or lifeproof case. I have never had a broken screen. I have had to replace my case a few times however…

People are just careless so it seems. I've had 6 iPhones, I'm also one of those that doesn't drop their phone often (if at all), but when I did, it never broke. The worse damage was when my 1st iPhone dropped onto tile, face first, & got a slight chip below the Home button. It had no case.

I and my family have been using iPhones for 10 years and have never broken one, although they have been dropped several times. In most cases, the phones had protective cases and screen protectors. So, iPhones are no more susceptible to damage than any other phone but you always hear about people dropping them into toilets (?), dropping them off balconies, or throwing them against walls.

Yes. Phones in general are fragile, i have the iphone 8 plus… I have the tempered glass screen protector on it, has plenty of cracks on it but the phone itself is in perfect condition. I just have a wallet case so it's not the most durable but with the amount of times i've dropped it… Still in perfect condition

I had an android phone but an ipod touch. I've had to replace the screen on the ipod twice just for dropping it on accident and another time for literally holding it with my mouth when my hands were full and I had no pockets at the time lol but the screen broke. With my android, I've dropped it, thrown it, sat on it, etc. And it's always been fine so.

People are careless. I've been using iPhones since the 4 came out and the only reason I've ever had to get one fixed is from not paying atttention to what I was doing with them

(Accidentally dropped one in a coffee cup, the other one had a broken screen from letting it fall out of my pocket)

I've dropped my iPhone 8 Plus quite a few times and it seems to be alright. Although I have an Otterbox Commuter case and one of those cheaper "9H Glass" screen protectors on it. In the past, I wrecked galaxy S phones that did not have a screen protector or a case.

The only iPhone that was really fragile was the 6 Plus which was known to have a weak frame. This problem was corrected with the 6s Plus.
