Are their problems with Samsung galaxy receiving texts from Iphone 5?

My friend has a samsung galaxy and I have an iphone 5, I've been sending him texts and he hasn't responded. I know that I've read stuff how some samsung galaxy phones can't receive texts from an iphone for some reason. I have all the right settings-even the "send as sms" I have turned on.could it be a technical problem?

Could it be a technical problem? What else could it be, a mechanical one? It's probably a user error, but also could be due to different cellular providers. Sometimes, CDMA to GSM messages have issues, but it shouldn't be a problem. Call your cell provider.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and I get texts from my friends with iPhones all the time. As long as the texts are being sent as regular phone texts, there should be no problems no matter what kinds of phones both people have. If texts really are getting lost, then it's more likely to be a problem with the phone company, not the phone. If you are getting texts from everyone else except this one person, then it's a problem at their end, not yours. On iPhones, most people use the iMessage app to text, and if so they need to make sure that they are sending to a phone number, not an email address (that only works if the person at the other end also has iMessage, which is only on iPhone).

Did your friend just get a samsung galaxy? Did he have an iphone before he got the galaxy? The only thing I can think of is when I got a galaxy s4(before that I had an iphone) I couldn't get texts from people with iPhones unless they turned off their iMessages. They could get mine but I couldn't get theirs. What I had to do was turn off iMessages on my iPod touch and ipad too. If your friend had an iphone before then have him try turning off iMessages on all of his apple devices. I don't know what else it could be if he didn't have an iphone before that.
