At a uk airport do you need to remove iPhones from there cases? I have a flip case and am worried about it getting scratched if it's out?

No get a new phone

It, s an idiocy to resist then, no come along there with them!

I have never had to, over many, many international trips.
I have always used Otterbox Defender cases on my iphones.

Just put the phone in the tray to go through the x-ray machine, still in its case.

The only thing you normally have to take out of cases/bags are laptops.

I hope you aren't serious.

Don't worry.

Just do as you are instructed.

You should adamantly refuse so they can delay your trip, and possibly place you in detention for being more preoccupied with your precious iPacifier than travel safety.

I don't think there's a requirement to remove phones from cases through airports. At least I've never had to do so over the years.

I suspect the phone gets more scratched in its case in your pocket way more than sitting naked in a plastic tray for 2 minutes

No, I have never had to remove my iPhone from its case whilst going through UK airport security, they won't ask you to do that. The only requirement is for laptops and you will have to remove your laptop from its case and they may even ask you to turn it on and login if you have a password. They do this as an added security measure to make sure that the laptop belongs to you and that you have full access to it.
