AT&T upgrade iphone switch sim?

Ok, so tonight I'm going to preorder the iPhone 5. I'm not eligible for an upgrade, but another line on my plan is so I was going to just preorder the iPhone 5 on that line and switch sim cards. The only problem is that the 4S uses a different sim card than the 5. I'm not worried about transferring data from one phone to another, I'm just worried about transferring the phone number. Will I be able to do this even if I can't switch the sim card?

Your phone number is not stored on the phone, it is stored on your sim card. After you get your iPhone on the 21st, take it to the AT&T store and ask them to replace the iPhone 5 sim with a 4S sim, and vice versa. I do this all the time (we have a big family)

Apple is switching everything for reasons like this no you won't be able to switch it just by using the sim card if they don't fit. Your carrier might let you use the upgrade and switch phones regardless just ask. I've done it previously not with the iphone i just waited a week

  • Would I be able to switch carriers without having to switch phones? I'm with Consumer Cellular and I have an iPhone SE, but I'm thinking of switching carriers so that I can get unlimited data. I don't want to get a new phone because I've had my current one about six months, I really like it, and it works great. I'm not locked into a contract with Consumer Cellular. Would I be able to switch to another carrier without having to purchase a new phone?

I'm currently on my parents plan and am looking to go on my own I want to keep the same number and also see if I can use the upgrade from my parents plan before I switch over to my new plan.yeah this is a lot… I want the iphone 5 can I use my upgrade from my parents plan to get the phone then switch to my own plan with the iphone and not have my parents bill get charged? If anyone can help it would be great!
