At what age would you get a child a ipod or iphone?

What are your opinions? I'm debating between a ipod touch 5 or a iphone 5 or 4s…

Added (1). You know what dusty, that was for a iphone, I'm debating between both now. And I have the freedom to ask something as many times as I want…

I depends on the child. If the child is very responsible, and understands the value of the item, they could be ready. I got my kids iphone 3s (cheap) at 15 and 17. The 15 year old dropped his and broke the screen, I got it fixed, then he did it again, and I didn't get it fixed. He loses it all the time, usually for a couple days. It's been 2 months since I've seen it, so I got him the cheapest Trac phone I could find. I'm stil paying $40 a month for the iphone due to the contract. He's 17 now.
His brother had the same iphone for 2 years and broke it in a fit of stupidity. I got a 5, and gave him my 4, and it's in perfect condition.
So some kids might be ready at 11, mine wasn't ready at 17.

12 or 13 is reasonable I hate when I see children so young with phones I have a 9 year old sister with a cell phone she is never off it and always using social media

You asked this b4 an got 14 answers… So what do you Really want to hear. IMHO… WHEN THEY ARE 20! Kidding, but when they are mature enough to take care of it and WITH PROPER SUPERVISION learn to respect it, what it can do and respect the rest of us in the process.
