BA: My uncle found a lost Iphone and the owner kept calling?

My uncle found a cellphone & the owner kept calling. My uncle told me to answer & tell them that you are wanting $20 dollars to return it back to them. I flat out told him NO! That it was stealing and not right/our property. I then was going to plan that I will ask for 20 bucks but my uncle didn't buy it. I believe it was an iPhone 5 so it might have a tracker but the owner keeps calling & my uncle took the phone with him saying he's going to keep it. I didn't see the # that was calling just their name. I posted a notice on Craigslist but haven't heard from anyone. I don't know what to do, my uncle won't return it back to the owner. He found it near a gas station and I tell him that he needs to return it!

It doesn't sound like the first time your uncle's been a thief. Eventually it will be traced. Good for you for half doing the right thing though!

Try your hardest to return it. That person might be in distress, be a single parent, not have a lot of money. Tell him to do the right thing and ask him how he would feel in that situation. Our world isn't the greatest of places. We need more kindness in it.

If you know what gas station it was, try going there and ask if anyone has been looking for a lost phone. Maybe the owner left their contact information.

Call the police on the non-emergency line and tell them what's happening. Give them whatever info you have, like the names of the people on the other side.

You might tell your uncle that what goes around comes around.
