Bank account declined when I have money on it?

Basically my hsbc account is declined on online shopping sites and iTunes. Haven't tested in a shop. I keep getting this problem every few months where I can't even download a free app or anything with my card connected to my phone. I don't get it. Like if something is free or I can afford it I should be able to get it.

Banks have become hyper-vigilant when it comes to fraud. My favorite was when I used my debit card to pay a $18,000 medical bill… Then later that day, the same debit card was declined for $7.00 at a fast food restaurant. When I called to ask about it, they told me "someone was trying to use my card in California". I had lived in California for 6+ years at that point and almost ALL of my charges were in California.
I guess it just depends on who's working that shift?

Ask a bank representative.

Bank Debit cards are often very strict with fraud blocks so you can get a lot of this stuff when they ring a false alarm. Honestly you really should get a credit card to use for that type of stuff and just pay it off every month. You will have much less problems.

HSBC was involved in a financial collapse recently. It's not fair, but financial people are very leery of trouble.

So call them! How would WE know why YOUR bank is stopping payments? Only THEY could possibly know that. And it's a 800 number! You have no excuses NOT to call them…

You're going to have to call HSBC and ask this question. This is a personal account issue that only your bank can resolve.
