For that price range, it's limited. Get whatever you find, it won't make a difference at £40 or under.

Some magnificent Ferraris have surpassed the ebay auction block within the last few couple weeks, most finishing unsold. Supply is plentiful and if you've kept a job and about $60k to spend on one of the better all-around Ferraris ever produced, this is a good time and energy to buy. Good to outstanding examples range in value from $50-70K, the GTS generally choosing about $5k more.

Regarding capital preservation purposes, I'd recommend a reddish on black GTS using a 6 speed manual (black leather as it ages well, hides staining, is easy to re-dye and just plain looks great). Having said that, you should choose everything you like as these will not be appreciating in value for a number of more years. FWIW, the best Ferrari color combo is dependent upon the model, but for your F355 I like reddish on black. And like a performance purist, I choose the Berlinetta to the GTS (see Ferrari F355 photos).

As always using a Ferrari, either buy the one that has had the key service done recently, or factor that in to the price. Problems to try to find include a rattling sidestep valve, cracked manifolds, inoperable electronic digital suspension, broken heater device, engine fires (yikes), catalytic converters, any sticky throttle pedal, and worn valve guides ultimately causing oil burning.
