Bought iphone at a thrift shop, has activation lock?

I got a iphone 4 at a thrift shop. When i restored it, it wouldn't let me use it because it has "Activation Lock" on it. I don't know who the original owners are, or how to find them so there's no way to find the apple ID. Is there anyway i can bypass it? I don't want to have a useless phone:/

You bought a useless phone.

Nope. Better return it. Nothing you could do.

You've bought a lost or stolen iPhone.

Activation Lock can't be removed except by the last legitimate owner.

Most likely a stolen phone

You have a paperweight. I hope you didn't pay more than $15-$20 for it; and even then, that's pretty expensive for an outdated phone.

You're outta luck.

The phone is stolen! You do better buying it from a apple store

It is your own fault for not checking it out before you paid for it. The phone has been reported as lost or stolen, so it is now permanently a paperweight.

Yes
