Brand New iPhone 4 has 2gb of 'Other'?

Hi, I plugged in my brand new iphone 4, and it had 2gb of 'Other' loaded on it already. I have not added any apps, music, videos etc on it yet. Just plugged it in and 2gb is already taken up. This does NOT include the space taken for the iOS, etc. So the breakdown is this. 8gb iPhone. Capacity is 6.39gb (because of menus, iOS, etc). Then ANOTHER 2gb is taken up by 'Other', leaving me with about 4gb left on an 8gb iPhone. I've searched everywhere, please help! I want to know what it is or how to remove it. Thanks

Added (1). Also I do not want to do a restore as new because it is new already. And I also do not want to update to iOS 6

Firt of all you may not remove it because it is necessary for your iphone to function. But in order to save space, when the new IOS comes out, update it on your computer not from youre device. It takes up significantly more memory from your device… Just plug into computer and under your iphone tab and click update

  • Other taking up 2.2GB on Iphone 4? I've restored my phone and deleted my apps and photos and there's still this huge block of yellow on my itunes screen that shows "Other" taking up that room on my phone. What is this other? Why is it taking up so much space? Can I find out what it is somehow?
  • My brand new 'faulty' iPhone 4S has turned up? So I ordered an iPhone 4S off a refurbished phone website for £200 and it turned up today and everything was fine until it came up with a 'replacement needed' message. So I took it to a phone shop and they said there's nothing they can do.
  • Is 2GB of Data going to be enough? (soon to be new iphone user)? I'm constantly on Facebook and Twitter. I'm not much of a video watcher and I probably wouldn't watch any videos knowing I'm constricted to a data plan anyways. I like game and photo apps but I don't use them 24/7. Will 2 be enough or should I get 4? I'm on Verizon if that matters.
  • I went to the river the other day and my almost brand new iphone 5c has water damage? I don't have insurance and the warranty won't cover water damage. I'm on a two year contract so i can't upgrade until December and i don't really have money to take it to the repair shop right now. I have tried putting it in rice, but it didn't help. Could i drop the phone off the plan and then add a new one? I don't know what to do.
