Buy broken iphone? Get it replaced?
I purchased the iphone 5 when it came out and unfortunately opted for the 16gb version. These days i'm wishing i had gotten a 32gb and also hoping for a color change. So i was wondering if i could buy one on ebay (say, w/ cracked screen for a discounted price) and then take it in to apple and pay for an out of warranty replacement (which i hear costs $229)? I basically want to make sure i have my facts straight regarding apple's policy and make sure that wouldnt be 'frowned upon' lol.

the ebay one with cracked screen are out of warranty and have already been fixed or replaced, apple will not honor those.

On top of this, my phone was recently stepped on and the screen was shattered. I plan on paying the $109 to have the screen replaced from apple, but does that replace the home button too? The back camera on my iPhone 4s broke (just stopped working), so I called Apple and I have an appointment set up to replace the old phone with a brand new one. But, I want to know if when they give me the new phone, will they let me keep the old one? The phone still works fine except for the camera. In fact, it's almost perfect. And obviously I want to sell the old one on ebay to make a boat load.

I was going to go to Apple to get it replaced but I can't really afford a lot. I've done some research and people have said that its usually about £20 or nothing at all?
