Buying iPhones or Nokia Lumia or other phones second hand?

I'm looking for a new mobile phone. I want to spend in the region on about £150.00.

I have been thinking about breaking my Nokia tradition and trying an iPhone - the number of free apps appeals and their ability to do almost everything. However, I have concerns. Firstly, battery life isn't great anyway and the fact you can't remove the back and swap it for a new one means that I'd need to buy a refurbished second hand (looking 4S) model, which is getting on for nearly £180.00-£200.00 on the likes of eBay. Also I'm worried that with iPhones being replaced every 12 months, that in 2 1/2 years or so my 4S would be completely obsolete.

Can anyone cast any advice on buying iPhones at the price I'm looking at paying? I don't think I want to pay the extra for an iPhone 5, but if you think I should, say and justify why.

Or… What other phones can I get for the money (I've not a problem with good quality second-hand). I've got a Nokia 5230 which is almost dead and have had lots of Nokias but I have heard bad reports about the Lumia range (any thoughts?). I've no problem with Android. My main wants in a phone are

-ok camera
-calls
-texts
-facebook/twitter
-email (preferably an app for Gmail - I know the iPhone has one, do any others?)

All smartphones have new models every year, you are kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

What I would suggest is if you get a used one and its not stolen, and in good condition, the battery would be the least of my concerns as you can always take it to an apple store and have them put a new one in, in that case it would be like a brand new phone.

  • What should I know before buying a second hand iphone 4? So I've found a good deal for an iphone 4 but the thing I'm worried about obviously is getting scammed. I'm pretty sure it's not a China product but what I'm worried is things like if the iphone 4 is unlockable or not, the IMEI is blacklisted(do i have to worry about this too?). What other factors should I include when buying this? ** i'm actually going to see it for myself

Does anyone know any good legit online second hand phone shops? We're in the UK and would be looking to get an iPhone 7. I have looked on 4Gadgets but is out of stock there. Also does anyone know if second-handphones.com is legit?
  • Is The Nokia Lumia Worth Buying? I finally have enough money to get a new phone but I have no clue what to buy originally I wanted a iphone but I just can't keep up with the trend of upgrading my phone every year because the newest and coolest phone is out. What do you think would you recommend the nokia lumia i saw the adds and thought it was a cool phone but i don't know. Also what kind of plan do they have?
  • Is the Nokia Lumia 521 worth buying? It is ridiculously cheap, which is too good to be true. I heard that its only good for a back up phone? Because I need a main phone to use and I'm looking for a smartphone. Does it work just as well as a S3 or iPhone? Or is it worth buying?
