Added (1). I should mention, both the prepaid phone and the existing sim from another phone are on AT&T network.
Added (2). What I'm really trying to do is upgrade from my existing iphone SE to an iphone 8 by buying a prepaid iphone 8 that is on sale for a great price.
No. First it has to be unlocked by the prepaid provider.
I don't see why not. There's no "prepaid iPhone" though. The designation as such depends on the SIM in the phone & its configuration.
