Can androids see my emojis from iphone?

I don't know if android updated anything cause i don't have an android. But can they see the emojis i send them? I've been wondering for a while now.

No, I don't think so. Androids have a differently formatted emoji think. Like their happy face is: :-) , which I think is weird.

Why can't I see their emojis? So I have an iPhone 4 and it is upgraded to iOS 5 and my cousin has an Android. When we text I can't see her emojis, but she can see mine. How do we fix or change that?
Why can't I see emojis on twitter on my iPhone? I can see them in text messages, i can put them in my tweets, and I can see them in literally every other app, but when it comes to twitter all I can see are question marks. Even when I look up my own tweets with emojis in them, they won't show up. I have an iPhone 4 running the latest iOS. What the heck is going on?

How to see the emojis that iphones see with my adroid phone? I have an app that allows me to send, revive and view emojis but they are the adroid emojis. I want to be able to see what the iphones see. It gets very frustrating.
