Can Apple unlock my iPhone 4S to work with T-Mobile?
My friend is selling me his iPhone 4S and it's been used. It's an AT&T phone, so I'm able to insert my T-Mobile SIM card in.
He told me he's going to set it to its original settings to where it says connect to iTunes. (don't know how he's going to do that.)
I'm confused on the process of it all. I know it's possible for it to work with my T-Mobile service, but I need to unlock it. I rather not Jailbreak it. If I take it to Apple, can they unlock it for me? Any extra info on how to do this will be nice.
No. A person with a privately owned store can though. When you switch a IPhone to T-Mobile you are Jailbreaking it. When you jailbreak it, you eliminate any connection to the device and Apple. If they see it, bad things may happen.
You tell us your IMEI, Having made payment, we then mark your IMEI as unlocked within Apple's IMEI database - once this is done we send you an email confirming this. You then simply connect your iPhone to iTunes in order to complete the unlock. Your unlock is guaranteed and is also permanent, meaning you can safely update your handset and sync with iTunes without ever worrying about it re-locking. Http://attiphoneunlocker.com/
Your phone can now be used with any gsm network.
1) Open iTunes on your Mac or PC (verify you have internet connectivity).
2) Connect your iPhone to your computer using the USB data cable.
3) Backup and Restore your iPhone using iTunes.
4) Once your iPhone is restored it will have the Factory Unlock in place!

I know that tmobile is switching to its new LTE network but i don't know if i live in an area that is already supported by it or not. I live in austin tx. If i do live in an area that is supported will it have all the same features and be able to do all the things it would on at&t or would i be sacrificing somethings for the switch?
