Can i buy the iphone 5 from verizon, but then unlock it and use it for tmoble?

My carrier's tmoble, and I want the iPhone but I refuse to pay $700 for a phone I can get for $200 on any other carrier. So I was thinking about making my dad buy the iphone on his carrier since he has Verizon n the unlocking it and using it with tmoble, so then he just can go back to his phone. Can I do that or would Verizon not let my dad use his old verizon phone again?

Yes, you can buy the Verizon iPhone 5 and use it with T-Mobile SIM. The phone comes factory unlocked, by default. So you won't have to unlock the phone. If you still see the phone's locked, you can get it factory unlocked from someone. Check online for factory unlocking iPhone 5.

You technically can do it
yes the iphone comes unlocked but its not gonna be 4g data

another thing is your dad can only upgrade once every 2 years… So if he uses his upgrade his phone for 199 and gives it to you he can't upgrade for another 2 years… And then he would have to pay 700 dollars if he wanted a new phone

the 199 is not an everyday price and phones don't last forever… And on top of that verizon is the most difficult with phone replacements… So if i was your dad id leave his line alone

yes tmobile doesn't let you upgrade for a cheaper price so why keep them?
