Can I change Iphone 4 contract sim card to pay as you go whilst I'm abroad?

I'm hoping to go onto an Iphone 4 24 month contract with 02 from next week. However I travel to Egypt a few times a year, is it possible to swap the sim card to a pay as you go 02 just before I go away and then reinsert the contract sim card when I arrive back in the UK to avoid high costs.

I want to know if this mucks anything up on the phone or if it is even possible? I've heard it accepts a micro sim only.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

If the phone is locked to 02, then switching sim cards from contract to payg is possible, and shouldn't cause any issues. Make sure you have all your data backed up by hooking up your i-phone to i-tunes before you swap sim cards to be on the safe side.

Another option for you is to ask your network provider to provide your unlock code. (I know Vodafone provide it free of charge for contract customers, not sure about 02 though.) This can take about 48 hours to receive. This means that you can use a local Egyptian network sim card, as roaming charges on British networks are usually really expensive.

Also, you're right, i-phones use micro sims.
