Can I get an iPhone from target?

I have a AT&T contract and have the 3GS. I want to upgrade to the 5. At the AT&T store you have to pay $36 for an upgrade fee. I was just wondering if i could go to target and i could open my account there to buy an iphone for $200 and not pay the upgrade fee. It says online pre paid phones are at target so i'm not sure. I already have a contract. And also, it says bring in a working cell phone in target and get $50 dollars off. Does that mean any cell phone? Or does it have to be an iphone?

At Target, your only options for an iPhone is the 4/4S prepaid ONLY for Virgin Mobile. I'm not sure about upgrading for AT&T (stuff like that I do at the actual retail store). Also, everyone likes to save money, but if you're considering an iPhone (which is quite pricy) that $36 upgrade fee should be nothing compared to the actual phone you want.

There's really no way around that upgrade fee. You'll have to pay some price either way to get that upgrade. I myself recently got out of a contract and am now on prepaid - which is an amazing way to save money. If you're not considering going prepaid, then might I suggest getting a phone that's a little more for your money?

For example, the Galaxy S4, the HTC One, or the Xperia Z? All three of these phones are Android, but in terms of specs and functionality, they are all superior to the iPhone 5. I don't mean to sound like an Apple basher, but for what it's worth, the iPhone 5 is really quite overpriced. But if you're really intent on getting it, then what I mentioned earlier is what you'll have to do.

First off, the $36 Upgrade Fee charges when you upgrade (sign a new 2 year contract and use the subsidized pricing), no matter where you do it.
Secondly, it depends what your Target allows. At my local Target, they have AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon and you CAN get the iPhone 5 in-store. Not all Targets have AT&T and not all of them carry iPhones.

About that promotion… In an AT&T-owned AT&T store (No Radio Shack, no separately operated kiosk or "Authorized Retailer"), you can trade in ANY working phone for $100. I believe there's no limit to how many. I suggest trading in multiple old cheap flip phones from back then to get it for free! DO NOT trade in a phone that is worth over $100, because you could get more from it. But even if the phone is worth $6, they'll give you $100 credit for your bill and/or a new phone!
