Can I have Wi-Fi without Internet?
I know, I know, total noob question, bear with me. I have Wi-Fi and internet right now but my dad pays for it and he wants to get rid of cable and Internet because of the expense. I rarely use the computer, but I use the Wi-Fi on my (disconnected) iPhone All The time. So if he gets rid of Internet, does that mean I won't have Wi-Fi anymore? Is there a way to have Wi-Fi without Internet or am I just screwed?
Lol nope sorry
Wi-Fi is a local wireless internet network. No more internet, no more Wi-Fi.
You will still have Wi-Fi, it just anything that connects to the Wi-Fi will not have internet access.
Wi-Fi is a wireless way to connect to a router, nothing more. It does not inherently give internet access.
You'll be able to connect to the Wi-Fi access point, but since there's no internet connect to that, you will no longer have internet access.
Correct. No internet, means no Wi-Fi.
Yes you can have wi-fi all you need is a modem. You can only connect to people on your wi-fi not the world. That means you can't download apps on your wi-fi…
Wi-Fi is a network system like Ethernet. You will still have a local network without the Internet connection. You will be able to copy files between local computer; stream video from an Ethernet connected file server to a Wi-Fi connected tablet PC and similar operations. However, none of the devices will have Internet access.
Yes, You can have the Wi-Fi without the internet…
I have no idea what those others are talking about if you remove the internet that you loose your Wi-Fi. Obviously, they never had a need to use a Wi-Fi without internet. They must think everything happens magically on the network.
You can still have Wi-Fi and what you do with the Wi-Fi is play lan games or you can transfer files between computers. Things like that…
Wi-Fi and Internet are completely separate. Wi-Fi is your LAN, Local Area Network, based in your router; it connects your devices together: computer, phone, scanner, modem, printers, etc. The internet is accessed through your modem. You can have internet without Wi-Fi, through a modem installed in your computer, you can print from your computer, over your Wi-Fi, without internet.
- What is the oldest Mac Computer I can get that can have internet and play DVDs? I'm not really much on computers, so that is why I'm looking for something cheap, but still can have internet and play DVDs, and also if it can run videos as well. ( just for extra, can also connect with an Ipod/iphone)
- If you have an iPhone, do you get internet connection without connection? I see people at school and stuff with iphones and they are on facebook, and google, and etc… How do you do that? Does it automatically come with the phone, or is it extra to get connection when you don't have any…
