Can I just upgrade my iPhone 6 to an iPhone 8?

I'm already on a family plan, I can backup my memory on the cloud. Can the Verizon SIM card in my 6 be used in the 8? Can I just keep everything as is, stay in the plan. Basically all I want to do is buy the iPhone 8 as I've already replaced the battery for the 6 once… And it's not holding power well anymore.

I'd suggest you contact Verizon about this.

As far as the SIM though, keep in mind on a network like Verizon, that's only for data use, but yes it would be able to go across fine.

My brother had an iPhone 6 up until now since the day of release, and now when he wanted to get the iPhone 8/X, i got him into the samsung s9. Look into samsung phones or androids for that matter… Much better phones 100%

As long as your 6 is paid off then yes. You could probably get the same plan as long as they still offer it. And all your data that is backed up will be moved over to the new iPhone 8 if it is going to be on your iCloud account that you used on the 6. Anyways enjoy the phone!

Yes. The iPhone 6 uses exactly the same SIM size as the iPhone 8.

BUT… You MUST fully back up your 6 before you pull the SIM out and MUST turn the phone fully off efore removing/inserting any SIM on any phone. When you back up your phone do so twice if you can: Once to your host computer using iTunes, and the other to your iCloud storage if you pay the measly £2.99/US$2.99 per month for the extra storage option. If one backup gets corrupted you have a spare.

The iPhone 8 may need updating to the latest version of iOS before it will accept the last backup from your old iPhone. To do that you first set it up as a new iPhone but don't waste time setting it up for Wi-Fi or fingerprints as you'll need to repeat that after it's taken the backup restoration.

If the 8 leaves the factory box with the latest update to iOS then all you need do is to pop the SIM inside, turn the phone on, plug it in to your host computer running iTunes, and select "Restore backup".
