Can I just use the code from a Gamestop digital gift certificate at the store?

I just received a digital gift certificate (via email) to use at Gamestop,
the problem is that I don't have a printer to print out the email (certificate) which has the barcode in it which needs to be scanned for me to use the money from the gift certificate at the store.
I really want to get down there and use it today and i doubt i'll be able to get to a printer any time soon,

so would it work if i was to just take my phone with the email open on the screen? (i have an iphone so the barcode is clear)

or (this would be ideal): would i be able to just give them the code from under the barcode in the email to use my electronic gamestop gift certificate?

I worked at one for two years a lot of people try this and the answer is no you need to scan the bar code to verify it you can't go there with it written down it has to be printed or taken to the store and made into a gift card. But it will work if you go to gamestop.com. You can purchase idems online with a gift card (look on it you should see a 12-16 digit code kind of like a credit card number) Inter that and the game you want easy. NOTE sometimes you have to put two codes bar code and the 12-16 digit code to verify. I have no clue if they still do this its been one year.
