Can I move out with 500 dollars?
Ok so I'm 18 and me and my friends are moving to Florida. I'm going to work full time there for a year to save up and apply for residency so I can get in state tuition so that's why I'm not going to college for a year. I finished my first year of college already and I plan on moving towards the end of august. Me and my friend are getting a place that's 150 a week of 620 a month, including water and sewage. I have an iPhone that I'm probably going to be paying for too which is about 70 a month, and were going to have 1 car (Toyota corolla) which is my friends and were splitting the gas costs. I really can't live with my parents anymore and they're driving me crazy and the apartment were getting requires first month a security deposit of 250, so with that said, how much can I afford for rent? And will I be able to move with 500? Or should I have 1,000? I'm moving in august no matter what by the way I can't live with my parents anymore I'm just tired of my life here. My friend is also going to be working part time and going to culinary school.
Ah, to be young again! What excitement to think about living on your own away from the dreadful parents! I learned to hard way- sounds fun but now I'd do anything to be young and carefree.
$500 isn't enough for sure. $1000 isn't enough either! I can hardly scrape by on my fairly decent full time income (probably double than the starting pay you will likely get in FL).
My sister is adventurous. She decided to uproot and move to Southern California. She diligently saved up 6 months income before moving. She ran out of savings quickly due to high costs and difficulties finding full time work in her field.
It does help to have a roommate and someone to assist with the bills BUT keep in mind that other people can sometimes be unreliable. Again, I learned this one the hard way and it took me quite a few years to figure it out! The only person you can truly rely on is yourself. Imagine that you land a job, things are tight but going fairly well, and your roommate doesn't hold up their end of the bargain!
Having a vehicle is good but cars break down and need repairs. If you don't have emergency money set aside you might end up in a pickle!
Sorry to be so "Doom & Gloom"- things could work out for you if you plan ahead. My advice: Save up more money and do it right the first time.
As long as you have enough money for 1 month (rent, food, transportation), you should be fine assuming you'll make enough at your job for the months ahead. You'll need to save as much as you can as well just in case something happens such as losing your job. The more months you can survive without a job, the better. Having $1k would be less stressful than having $500 of course so if you can save that amount, do it.
$500 won't even get you through a single month.
Sorry to break it to you, but You should have accumulated savings of at least 20 times the cost of rent before moving out. Seriously! You can move out with less, but will face huge financial burdens. I'm guessing you will return in a few months to ask for help solving problems with payday loans if you move out with little money.
Rent does NOT usually include heat, gas and electricity. Rent rarely includes Internet.
Moving out is expensive. Ideally, you will need a minimum of 6 months' living expenses and a job that covers 120% of your estimated living expenses. Your rent should not exceed 33% of your gross (pre-tax) income.
6 months x 3 = 18 times the price of rent. Add first month's rent and deposit = 20 times rent.
You will need to buy something that gets you to/from work (car, bicycle, shoes, bus pass), a bed or futon, clothes dresser, kitchenware (dishes and cups), table ware (forks, spoons, knives), cleaning supplies and toilet paper, grooming supplies, a vacuum, a refrigerator (your apartment might have one), a checking account to pay bills, and anything else that helps get you through the day. Don't forget to budget for utilities (gas/propane, electricity, water, sewer, trash, telephone, cable, Internet, and petrol for the car), food, and insurance (auto and renter's insurance).
You might also want a sofa, chairs, a dining table, cocktail table, lighting, a television and TV stand, and other furniture.
Ill give you one week, then you will be crawling back home to your parents.
There's NO Way that you are financially prepared to move out. Sorry, but that's reality.
- Will my new fiat 500 1.2 pop come with a aux or blue and me? Just brought a new 13 plate fiat 500 bit clueless of the features. If not is there anyway I can play music from my iPhone?
- Where can i get a unlocked refurbished iphone 5s cheaper than 500 dollars? I have wanted an iPhone 5s ever since it came out, and my parents can't afford to pay $700 dollars for one. My mom told me she would try and get me a refurbished unlocked one (we're on straight talk, we can't afford a contract service) for my 8th grade graduation, which is in one year. Does anyone know where I can get an unlocked, refurbished iPhone 5s cheaper than $500?
- What should I buy with my 500 dollars? I already have an iPad 3, iPhone 4, Ps3 and a Mac pro, so it can't be any of those and I have to spend it, so don't talk about saving or investing. Just give me some cool ideas, thanks. Btw I also have tons of ps3 games too, so none of that either
- Is 500 mb of internet data enough for me? I have an iphone 4s and with vodafone. Will 500mb of internet be enough for me to go on facebook and instagram for atleast two days?
