Can i put a t-mobile contract sim in a sim free iphone 3gs?
I have a plan with t-mobile, an old (t-mobile) sim card, and a old iphone 3gs. I can i simply put the old sim card in the iphone 3gs and have it work properly?
The iPhone 3GS was locked to the AT&T service provider when they were manufactured, and won't register that SIM card as a valid SIM. The only way to use your iPhone would be to unlock it. There are a few ways to unlock the iPhone 3GS, either with Jailbreak and unlocking Software, or a gevvy-Sim. The Gevvy-Sim is expensive, but it lasts, since it is a hard-unlock (the iPhone is permanently changed to accept all SIMS) while the software Jailbreak and Unlock will be free, but if you ever need to restore or update your iOS, the unlock will be removed until the next jailbreak is released. For your iPhone I would recommend using the software called RedSn0w for Jailbreaking, and using UltraSn0w for the Carrier Unlock.
I must warn you that jailbreaking voids all Apple warranties, but considering its an iPhone 3GS i could assume your warranty has expired. Also, a simple restore will put your iPhone back into a vanilla state, where it seems as if it were never jailbroken, so no worries there.

- Locked (on contract) iPhone 4s, can I put my sim into a Nexus 4? I have an iPhone 4S and it's on contract with AT&T. It has a mini sim card just like a Nexus 4 uses, so can I pop out the sim card, put it into a Nexus 4, and use it to test the Nexus 4 (with data and voice and all)?
- Can you put an iPhone 3Gs on the Virgin Mobile network? As far as I know, it's not unlocked or jailbroken but if I have to get it unlocked I will. I want to know if it's possible to put it on the VM network now that they are selling iPhone 4s. Let me know?
