Can I put all of my music straight onto my iphone 4s without itunes?

I have a big folder of all of my mp3's and ripped CD's. I want to put them onto my iphone 4s, but only the music in this folder. Some of the files when loaded into itunes say something along the lines of "Can't be used because original file could not be found".

Is there a way to just copy this entire music folder straight onto my phone?

No. You have to add the music to the library in iTunes and then sync it. Unless, you find some other way but then it won't be backed up so I wouldn't try anything else.

Try start>computer then see if it shows the Device. If so, you can just drag and drop. Otherwise you are out of luck.

Are the ripped CD's in mp3 format? If they're in wam w/copy protection, there might be problems. Were they stored on a flash drive or an external HD that's been removed? If so, then iTunes won't find the files. Try creating a new folder in your music folder and moving the desired songs into it - then dragging and dropping from their into the main iTunes window when it's set to the contents of the iPhone.

Hope that helped.
