Can I put my ATT iphone sim card into a verizon iphone?

My friend gave me his old iphone 4S verizon phone and I have a att iphone 4 and I was wondering can I put my sim card into his old verizon iphone? Will it work?

You can try, but you need to wipe the phone to continue your transfer. All the purchases on that phone belong to your friend and is secured to his account to prevent theft.

AT&T may require that the Verizon phone be unlocked, before they can transfer the IMEI and other codes from Verizon to AT&T.
