Can I report my neighbor for stalking?
My husband and I built a new home in a very quiet subdivision last year. We have been very good neighbors, our yard is always maintained, cars are never in the street, we're on very friendly terms with the people living around us. There's a 60-something retired lady who lives on the next street over; she does not share property lines, fences or anything with us, she is literally a street over and on the opposite side. A few weeks ago I started noticing a white car driving past my home 2-3 times in the span of a few hours. I didn't think much of it at first, but then it dawned on me after a few days of this happening that this is not a car from our side of the neighborhood and there's really no reason for whoever it is to be driving past so frequently. A few days ago, a snotty lady on a bike came up on our driveway to ask us if we were having a yard sale (it was Tuesday, who has yard sales on a Tuesday). I have a small business that I run from in my garage, I refurbish furniture. Sometimes I empty my garage out so I can reorganize and have better access to my most current projects. She happened to come up on one of these days. We told her it was not a yard sale and she began to drill us about everything we as neighbors are doing wrong and how we're single-handedly turning our neighborhood into the ghetto and so on. She threatened to report us for our garbage can being out, the furniture in the driveway (that we were in the process of placing back inside the garage!), my husband changing my oil a few weeks back… The list goes on! When my mother tried explaining to her that the furniture was out because of my business, this lady acted like it was the biggest sin in the world to paint furniture within the confines of my own garage! Right after she left our driveway she made her way to every house within sight of ours to talk to our neighbors about us and how we're ruining the neighborhood.
Since the driveway incident, I see her white car drive past my driveway at least 3 times a day sometimes more than that. She will intentionally slow down to a crawl when she gets to my house and I've started noticing that she is holding up a camera and taking pictures! It doesn't matter if my garage is open or shut, if I'm standing right there or if I can see her in the front window, she will take pictures. She has now started biking past my house daily as well. Her actions are making me feel extremely uncomfortable and I very much dislike the fact that she is taking pictures of my home/me. I'm more than a little disturbed! Is there any authority figure I can speak to about this issue and have them ask her to stop? I'm beyond creeped out and really want to make this stop! I live in the state of Florida if that helps. I have been taking pictures of her drive-by's but the last iphone update deleted all of my pictures up to a week ago and I've only had my phone on me once when she's driven by since then.
Report the Neighbour to the Police of they are stalking you.
Yes. Of course you can report her. You can report me too if you want to.
She hasn't done anything illegal.
If you live in an area with an HOA, contact them. If not, tell her to pound sand. You don't have anything to work with for a restraining order, she hasn't threatened you, it's a public street so you can't keep her from driving on the street.
Get a big plastic cheap camera. When you see her driving down the street, run out to the sidewalk and act like you are taking her pic as well. It's legal for her to take photos of your house from the street, and it's legal for you to take her pic as she drives on that street. Drive down her street and take pics of her house.
Until she makes a threat or does something actually illegal, the cops can't do anything for you. So you have to do for yourself…
Do you have an HOA? If you do, you might want to check a couple of things, just to cover yourself.
One of those is to make sure you are in fact allowed to change your oil in your driveway. You would be surprised how many do not allow it. Your city may not allow it.
Another: running a business. Alot of hoa's do not allow this either (nor do cities.) Tell mom not to ever mention that you're running a home business. As far as anyone else is concerned - you reburbish furniture as a hobby.
I would put up video cameras, myself.
- Where can I watch My Neighbor Totoro online free? I have wanted to see it forever! It looks so sweet! Got any ideas where I can watch it with no download or fees? Thanks! Preferably so I can watch it on my iPhone… :3
- What can I do if my neighbor took my package? I have been looking for my package ever since it was delivered at 3:17pm today. I fell asleep and contacted my shipping provider today and I have found out it has been sent to my neighbors address. I tried to knock but it's 11pm and most likely came too late. I'm sure they have it but I'm also sure they took the red iPhone 7 plus I wasn't able to find a month ago either. What can I do?
- Someone is stalking my iphone? So today, my iphone started ringing and it said someone used Find my Iphone. No one in my family used it so is it possible that someone else I don't know used it? I have the Apple ID under my account so how are they tracking it?
- How should I record (or shoot) and prove slamming neighbor's door? My neighbor starts slamming the door again after they were received a warning letter by my landlord. They know it's difficult to prove how hoisy they are. It might be a minor complaints. But it's so noisy. I try to record and shoot the scene with sounds, also date and time when it happened with iPhone and another camera. However, it's small and different sounds than actual sounds. How should I record the slamming neighbor's door?
