Can I resell an Iphone 6 plus that was on the sprint network if I get a factory unlock?

So, I have a Iphone 6 plus 16gb attached to a line on my sprint account. I want to cancel that line but, I will be left with the remaining balance for the phone owe to sprint. I want to resell the phone in order to pay off the balance. If I get a factory unlock from Sprint, would I be able to resell it and would the person who buys be able to use it on another network? Does anyone have experience with this?

? You can do whatever you like with the handset. All Sprint cares about is that you pay them what you owe - they don't care how you do it (sell your phone, your dog, your sister).

In all actuality, they would love it if you sold the phone (or break it or lose it), because it means that you would be using zero bandwidth on their network, yet you still have to pay your monthly payment. It's a dream situation for a carrier - kind of like someone signing up for a year at a gym and then never going. Free money for the company.

An unlocked phone can be used with any compatible carrier.
