Can I set up a wireless router with only an iPhone or iPad?

I don't have a home computer- only iPhone & iPad. Can I set up a Netgear wireless router only using one of these devices?

Yes you can set up it.

Don't know how you could do that. A router must be hooked
to a modem which has internet via phone line or cable hooked
to the modem.

The only way you could do that is if your iPhone or iPad has a data plan that allows it to be used as a Wi-Fi hotspot and you have a router capable of being configured as a wireless client bridge. Most consumer broadband routers can't do that natively, but some can using 3rd party firmware (like dd-wrt).

If you can still find a Zyxel P330W it can do that (web search it). I used one of those to connect wired PC, BluRay Player, etc. To my wireless DSL gateway in my basement.
