Can I switch carriers and keep the same #?

Currently i'm on verizon with my dad (parents are divorced) I'm ordering an iPhone 4S on Sprint this week because i've been hounding my dad for a new phone but always says "i'm broke" but i know he isn't so my mom said i could join her sprint plan. My dad doesn't know and my mom said not to tell him. But to make a long story short can i keep my same number?

No; you can only keep your number if you switch phones on same carrier

Back in 2005 or 06 laws were passed to allow portability of numbers---So the answer is YES

  • Should I switch carriers for the iPhone 5S? I want to buy the 5S, but right now I here that you can only buy the unlocked version for T mobile. Sprint, At&t, and Verizon all have it for a two year, $200 dollar contract. Should I switch carriers?
  • My mom and i got the same phone and same plan yet her internet loads all the time and mine never does? Two iPhone 7+. Same unlimited data plan. Yet literally no matter where I'm, nothing that uses data loads unless I'm connected to Wi-Fi. Yet my mom's internet loads no matter where she is. It's even happened that we're in the same place trying to load the same thing and hers loads while mine doesn't. Yes, I have my data turned on. I've made sure all my data settings are identical to my mom's. So i really don't know what could be causing this.
