Can i switch from my HTC phone to an Iphone?

I have an HTC vivid, I would like an IPhone. My friend would sell me one. But I'm not sure if I can just switch Sim cards that easily. Is it possible? Or do I have to buy one from AT&T since that is my carrier now.

If you are not buying it from your carrier you should buy one that is branded from your carrier. In your case has the AT&T logo on it. After you get one you should be able to take it to the AT&T store and they should switch over the phones free of charge. That's how it is with US Cellular and I don't see why that wouldn't be the casefor other carriers.
