Can I switch my iPhone 4 with sprint to and iPhone 5 that has AT&T?

My aunt had the iPhone 5 but got a new phone. So I want to switch my line to hers. Can I switch phones from two different companies or do I have to jail break the iPhone 5 from AT&T?

You have to call the carrier first with the phone in hand and see if that exact phone will be an ok switch to the carrier. Not all phones can be switched to any carrier. Don't buy until you are 100% doing the switch with the company

You would have to bring your number to AT&T from sprint, so you probably at least have to go to an AT&T store to buy a sim card for iphone 5 in order to have your line on the iphone 5. Jailbreaking has nothing to do with moving lines. Sprint's technology/network doesn't require using a sim card, so you would need one if you want to use an iphone 5 from AT&T.
