Can I switch to a new service provider?
I have a Virgin Mobile iPhone, and recently I have been unable to send or receive text messages. At first I thought it was the phone, but I re-activated an old phone with the same company, and I'm still having the same problems. I want to switch to a new service provider, but keep my phone.Am I able to do this? If so, how? Thanks for your help.

Very few phones that are made for Virgin Mobile work with other phones. It all depends on your phone. If it is imprinted with the Virgin Logo, then it is probably stuck on that carrier, otherwise, you can try using sprint or verizon to hook it up.
Nope. Virgin Mobile uses the Sprint network, which is CDMA. CDMA phones can't be unlocked to work on different carriers (even other CDMA carriers) the way GSM phones can. Even if your phone also has a SIM slot, that's only for use when the phone is outside the USA, so unlocking the phone won't help unless you're traveling.
All you can do is sell this phone after you've switched to a different phone and provider. When you do sell it, make sure you are clear to buyers that it will only work with Virgin Mobile.
