Can i take an iphone to the apple store if under 18?

I have an iphone 5, and the lock button has stoped working so i took it to the apple store they said i had to make an appointment, i have an appointment for tomorrow but do i have to be 18 for them to fix or give me a new one? They know its not my fault it just happened to stop working.

Your age shouldn't matter unless you are going to do something that changes your phone contract (which I doubt).

If the phone is still under warranty and you purchased it on a non-contract prepaid credit basis, then there should be no problem as long as you registered the warranty in your name and have proof of your identity.

If the phone is on a contract deal then it won't be in your name as you must be at least 18 years old to enter into a contract. If that's the case, they can and should refuse to deal with anyone other than the contract holder as there's no way to verify that you are entitled to be in possession of the phone.

In practice, their staff are often fairly incompetent and if their records show the phone is still under warranty they'll often carry out the repair or replace the phone.

You've made the appointment so may as well go ahead; at worst they'll just refuse to offer a repair or replacement to anyone other than the contract holder.
