If you recently bought your S3 the store you purchased it from might allow you to return it. It just depends on the return policy they have and the reason you have for returning it.
If you can no longer return the phone then your best bet is to list it on eBay and sell it. You will make a good amount of money and that will pay for most of the cost of an iPhone 5.
I have to be honest though. I have an iPhone5 and don't think it's the best kind of phone out there. I actually think the Samsung Note and and S3 are better. I stick with the iPhone though because I have so much content loaded up in iTunes.
Whoever you trade it with will be getting the better deals (it's those Apple adverts)
