Can I use a 7 Kindle Fire HD with my AT&T tethering plan?

I use iphone to tether at hone for the Internet at a rate of $50 a month. ATT said I can share thus with devices like tablets but I'm not sure if the Kindle Fire HD is capable of a personal hotspot.

I mean my 6 year old desktop does it, why not 7" Kindle Fire HD?

Unfortunately, the chips in the Kindle Fire HD doesn't support tethering via USB cable. However, if your phone can be set to share wireless as a Wi-Fi hotspot, then you can use Wi-Fi to connect your Kindle Fire HD to your phone (which is acting as a Wi-Fi hotspot), to access the internet.
