Can I use a deactivated iPhone 4's non-data, non-cell phone capabilities?

My iPhone 4's plan with Verizon is expiring just as I'm about to leave the country for ten months. Can I use it to listen to podcasts, check the time, store notes to myself, etc.without being subscribed to any kind of plan? Would I be able to connect to Wi-Fi networks?

Yes. You can do anything with your iPhone you currently are except call/text or use the internet when you're not connected to Wi-Fi.It'd just be like going to a place that has no cell phone reception- the phone still works, you just won't have service.

Yes, you can use it with Wi-Fi to go on the internet for podcasts. You could still check the time, set an alarm clock, use apps that work with Wi-Fi, etc.

You would not be able to make calls or use 3G/4G data.
