Can I use a used iPhone on a different carrier?
I was thinking of buying a used iPhone but I have Virgin Mobile (which does carry iPhones) and the last carrier was different. Would they still activate the iPhone even though it's not from Virgin Mobile?
I thought iPhones could since they use a different operating system but I didn't want to go through with the purchase without knowing. If for some reason I would NOT be able to activate a used iphone, is there a way around it?
No, virgin mobile will not activate any iphones except virgin mobile iphones.
If this was the case with a GSM carrier it would have been possible, since you'd just have to get an unlock for it.
But, since Virgin Mobile is CDMA, you wouldn't have that option. As the other answerer said they wouldn't activate it.
It is not possible to use an iPhone that is not made for Virgin Mobile on Virgin Mobile, the iPhones are carrier specific. You can probably find a used Virgin Mobile iPhone somewhere. There's a way around this, but its not legal.
