Can I use a Virgin Mobile IPhone with another service provider?

I'm currently with Virgin Mobile and want to switch to the iPhone. I understand I can't take another service providers phone, such as Sprint, and use it on VM but could I take my VM iPhone (later down the road) and use it on another providers plan? Eventually I might end up switching to a contract plan, but I can't right now. I just don't want to spend over $600 on an iPhone and then not be able to use it when I switch over.

I've never done that though all over Youtube there are videos of people doing this using a method called "Flashing" the phone. Good thing about iPhones and most-all Apple products is that they take a while to begin to decrease in value drastically. Just for fun I wanted to check out how much people/stores were selling the 3GS for and they were going for around 140-150, which is pretty incredible considering it's pretty obsolete. So as long as you take care of it well and don't crack/scratch up the screen or lose it, you should be fine either way, if they allow you to use it on another service or not then you can just sell it and get most of your money back.

If you buy a iPhone on Virgin Mobile your stuck using Virgin Mobile on that iPhone you can't use another carriers service. If you want an iPhone to use on another carrier you'll have to buy an unlocked iPhone which you can only use on carriers that use a SIM card like at&t and t-mobile. Also an unlocked iPhone costs as much as a iPhone from Virgin Mobile (depends what size memory you get)

  • Virgin Mobile Canada to virgin mobile USA? So I bought an iPhone 4S that is locked to bell which they say is compatible with virgin mobile Canada carrier, but I'm moving back to United States soon if I unlock it I can use it in united states on the usa Virgin mobile carrier right?
  • Unlocked IPhone 5. Can be ported to one GSM provider but not another. Why? My friend in South Africa got an AT&T model of Iphone5. It is now unlocked and has been ported to one of his providers. He doesn't like the data rates and wanted it on either "Cell C" or "8TA" (which is Telecom Mobile) Both are GSM providers I believe. So why can the phone be ported to one GSM provider, but not the other? Should the Iphone 5 be possible unlocked in a different fashion? he assures me, it should work on the other networks in SA.
  • How do you use an unlocked iPhone 7 Plus with virgin mobile phone service? I've tried a few times and it just keeps saying no service after searching, I've kept trying and once it actually showed virgin mobile with bars and Lte for less than a min but than it went to no service. This is originally a gsm phone but has been unlocked and many other people who unlocked their AT&T or t mobile iPhones were able to use it on a cdma network but why am I struggling. Any help would be much appreciated
  • How to use a Verizon iPhone 4 on Virgin Mobile USA s service? A close friend of mine gave me his iPhone 4 (he got the 4S, and the screen on the 4 is shattered. I'm repairing it as I speak.) and I was hoping that I could use it on my current carrier's service, which is Virgin Mobile. I don't want to jailbreak or unlock the phone, I just want to use it. How do I go about doing this?
