Can i use imessage over Wi-Fi? On a iphone 4 that is not activated?

I'm trying to use imessage over Wi-Fi. My iphone 4 is not connected to verizon anymore. Only Wi-Fi. I'm putting in my apple id and all i get is 'waiting for activation' any help?

Yes you can still use iMessage over Wi-Fi as long as you have a Apple ID and iMessage on. Just that you can't send text message.

Yes, this app uses internet to send and receive messages. So whether you have internet through phone's own data plan or Wi-Fi, iMessage will work. As far as activation is concerned, you should Apple's ID to activated your account in this app.
