It depends. If it is an ipad or iPhone only app, you can't. But usually if there's an iphone version of the app it will have a version for the ipod
You can download exactly the same apps as an Apple Ipod touch and an I phone. But you can get some apps from the Ipad but some apps you can't because some Ipad apps requires a bigger screen
