Can laptop overheating distroy hardware plugged into the ports?

In short I had a Samsung NP300E5A Laptop it became very slow and laggy, the fan was next the the charger socket and the USB sockets. Throughout the course of about 1year and 3 months use the fan would overheat so much it would burn my skin if it got too close. The charger socket has been destroyed from the heat, which I have attached a picture of below. All USB devices I frequently plugged into this laptop would develop connection issues, it would automatically connect and disconnect even if i plug it into another computer or USB port. It has happened to my 2 Logitech C920 webcams, my iPhone USB cable and HTC USB cable even my HDMI cable developed problems and I had to buy another one.
It seems like my laptops over heating is the problem. Is it the overheating which caused this? Is this common?

here's a picture of what the overheating has done to my charger

O.O wow that pc must be really hot, you devices should be ok but the USB end might get melted too but the metal and wires should be fine. I recommend you getting a laptop cooler or a new laptop, that is not safe to be honest if your using it on your bed it can potentially catch on fire

Anything that hot that could cause you skin to burn, can also cause damage to various parts of your computer. Why don't you take your laptop back to the place where it was bought and show the damage to the techs there.they'd be able to answer your question and help you i'm sure.
