Can people track email from an iPhone?
I know that it is possible for people to track other people by text but if someone used an iPhone to email people would it be possible for someone to track someone else down?
Yes, to a point.
I'm not sure if you mean the person sending the email is trying to track someone down, or that you are trying to track down the person who sent the email. Either way, here are both ways.
Email from an iPhone
You can view the header of the email to see where it originated from. You can google how to view the header for the email program you received the email in. The originating IP will be listed there. Note that depending on how their email is setup this might not actually be their location, but it may also be a pretty good indication. You can lookup the originating IP by googling IP lookup, and using any one of the many free lookups out there to find a location.
Tracking from an iPhone
There are a couple different email tracking services out there that track emails you send, so when people get them you can find out that they opened them or clicked a link etc. Http://www.bananatag.com is one of those, and it will do the IP lookup for you and tell you the location.
The IP location for both is only going to be so accurate, so again, sort of of depends what you mean by track someone down.
- Why can't they track the iPhones (Smartphones) of the people on missing plane? Many of them would have one and also activated locate my iPhone application. And they say your movement can be tracked on smart phones.
