Can't connect 3DS to the Internet?

I have a small problem with my 3DS-XL unfortunately. I used to be able to connect fine to my router back home, but now I moved to London as a student and I live at an apartment which has a router shared by all students provided by the University. In that network (Called KeySurf) in order to login to the net, you have to connect to it and then the ISP's page (KeySurf) opens that prompts you to add your UserName and Password in order to gain access. I can do that fine on my iPhone and Laptop but that's not the case with my 3DS.

On the 3DS, I can find the Wi-Fi (KeySurf) and am able to connect to it, however it can't establish an internet connection since somehow you have to add your credentials (UserName/Password). Unfortunately, it won't let me do that on the 3DS since no page opens to have you insert your details upon connecting.

Someone suggested that I connect to the Wi-Fi here (even without having access to the net) and try to open the browser on the 3DS which will then prompt me to KeySurf's page in order to add my info and gain access, however when I do that after loading for some time, the Browser on the 3DS gives an error saying that it can't be launched at this time (something like that) and just closes by itself.

Also: when I choose the network from the available signals on the 3DS, I just let the default procedure go on (I have no idea what these WEP options it has are so I never tried them).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If you can add a second wireless adapter to your laptop. A USB adapter is easy to install and note very expensive. Make sure it has drivers for your laptop's operating system. Then you need to set up Internet Connection Sharing in the laptop and configure one of the Wi-Fi adapters as a virtual router, and the other adapter connects to the existing KeySurf network.

Open the browser on the laptop and log in to the KeySurf with your username and password. Devices connecting to the virtual router and through the ICS will gain access without needing to log in themselves.

I have done a similar thing with my Internet ready TV when I logged in to a network that required a username and password. I have NOT tried it with a 3DS, so I suggest that you try a virtual router on the laptop using its existing wireless adapter before buying a USB adapter.

  • Should I sell my Nintendo 3DS for an Iphone 4? I've always been interested in Apple products. But I could never afford them. I've had my 3DS for a while now, and hardly every play it anymore. Do you guys think it's a good idea to sell it and buy an iphone 4 or 4S? I'm not into the 5 very much. And I don't see a difference between 4 and 4S besides the camera. Can somebody tell me whether I should sell it or not, and whether to get the 4 or 4S if i do?
