Can't FBI just hack into an iPhone?
With the recent case with Apple being taken to court/raged at by FBI, can't the FBI just hack into the iPhone? Are they just being lazy?
They are lazy. It is possible hack the I phone. They just don't want to bother with the time and expense. Also what they really want is an easy way to hack all iphones.
Because of the FBI all electronics makers are making phones IPads etc that can't be hacked. Just part of our constitutional rights.
Apparently not… Which is why this all went to court.
this is a TOUGH decision we're facing!
When the FBI does it, it's not "hacking," it's "tapping."
"Can't the FBI just tap into the iPhone?"
That depends what you mean by "can't."
Are they legally able to? That depends on cause, who, and whether or not a warrant is required, and if so, securing that warrant.
Are they physically able to? Maybe; maybe not. The FBI isn't one to divulge what they have the technological capability to actually do. The FBI likes criminals to underestimate the Bureau's capabilities and non-criminals to overestimate them. Therefore, it would not be unusual for the FBI to ask for something in court that the Bureau already had the ability to do to in order to not tip its hand to those whom it's investigating.
Government searches are a big deal. Hacking into a phone qualifies as a search.
Go read the Fourth Amendment and you'll see why it's not see easy for them to just hack into an iPhone. We have this thing called the Constitution.
You also can read the articles about Apple specifically. They stand to lose a lot if the public perceives them as compromising individual privacy.
There's a three strike rule in new Apple phones. If you enter the wrong password in three consecutive attempts, All data is deleted.
Its just more big government garbage. If that happens then you better also be open to China having back doors into your stuff also, because they will be first in line demanding all US businesses build them back doors as you can bet they are watching this closely.
- Why is it so hard for the FBI to hack the San Bernadino shooters iPhone? If the government has a department like the NSA filled with professional hackers, why do they need Apple to break the iPhone s encryption? Will it look bad if the government hacks the phone themselves? By the way, I'm not taking anyone s side here. I understand why Apple is reluctant to create this "back door" to bypass the iPhones encryption. And I know that hacking the shooters phone could answer so many questions people have.
- Why does the FBI have such a hard time cracking iPhone encryption. Why don't they just use the spy agencie's methods of using spyware? All you need is their phone number, and a cheap piece of software and you have access to everything on the phone (including deleted info) Why make a huge scene about it, when there are much easier ways to bypass lock screen encryption? You don't even need access to the phone, it can remotely install with just one phone call to the number too… Just saying, if the FBI really wanted in, it would be very easy
- Is the FBI virus still on my iphone? The stupid pop up came up, and after trying for a while, I managed to close out the window causing the pop up. Is the virus still on my iPhone?
- Is the FBI Virus on my IPhone? I found the popup on my phone, and after a lot of trying, I managed to close it out. By the way, my phone is jail broken. I went to my safari setting and cleared all my history and my web data. Am I good?
